The old log cabins at the fair ground today are scenes of the thirty-seventh annual reunion of the old settlers of Johnson county. Pioneers from all over the county are in attendance and hundreds are here from the surrounding country. The thirty-seventh meeting of the Old Settlers' Association took place at Mt.

President was Lawrence Jasmon of Springfield. His father, Joseph Harris, came to Knox County inand was one of the first settlers in Elba Township. He died in Abingdon Ap ; his wife is still living. After his father’s death, I. Harris, who had been teaching and studying in Abingdon, assumed charge of the estate, and turned his attention to farming and stock raising.
GRAINGER COUNTY, TENNESSEE. Grainger County was organized Ap with land from Hawkins and Knox counties. It was named for Mary Grainger, maiden name of the wife of William Blount, according to Pollyanna Creekmore, pre-eminent historian of Tennessee. Theodore Marks was elected first clerk of South Fork Township and, strange to say, his old minute book is still intact and a part of the township records.
